Herminia has experience in writing, public relations, social media, media relations, strategic planning and crisis communications in higher education and in governmental entities, most recently at Arizona State University and the City of Tempe. Prior to transitioning into communication roles, she worked at the Phoenix Police Department for more than 10 years, ultimately leading a team to successfully support Phoenix officers and outside agencies.

She is a graduate of Phoenix College and the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University.
